BYD already changed the game when it introduced Megawatt charging last year. But if there’s one thing we know about China’s EV market, it’s that the big players rarely sit still.

So BYD just launched a new version of its Blade Battery that is breaking charging records, once again. The second-generation version can charge from 10 to 97% in under 10 minutes, utterly obliterating anything offered by Western companies. If the Americans and Europeans ever want to catch up, they better act fast.

Here’s what else is on the menu today:

  • The regular Hyundai Ioniq 6 is dead in America. The N version is still coming, but I wouldn’t expect it to be here for all that long.

  • Meanwhile, Kia just killed the EV6 GT, its alternative to the Ioniq 5 N.

  • Better batteries need better chargers to hit their peak numbers, so BYD is introducing 1.5 Megawatt chargers.
