I desperately want to know how much my ideal Slate Truck is going to cost. Apparently, I’m not alone. Slate itself doesn’t have a final price locked in, its CEO told Tim Levin on Tuesday.
The market is just changing too quickly to finalize a price. With the tax credit gone and tariffs now in place for many countries, the EV market has never been more volatile. That makes it a strange time to launch a new brand like Slate.
But it may be exactly the right time. With last year’s policy changes driving up prices in 2026, consumers want cheaper cars. Will the Slate hit the mark? We’ll have to see when it arrives later this year.
