Automakers aren’t just struggling to develop cutting-edge electric cars. They’re also racing to deliver autonomous models. While some companies are rolling back EV investments, the autonomy race is hotter than ever.
Ford just upped its own ante at CES, announcing that its upcoming Universal Electric Vehicle Platform will gain support for “eyes-off” autonomy in 2028. That means EVs on the platform, including a forthcoming $30,000 electric truck, will be level-four autonomous, allowing you to sleep, text or eat while driving.
