Home charging is one of the biggest benefits of EV life. When you wake up every day with a fully charged vehicle, range anxiety just disappears. It certainly helps that it’s the cheapest way to get around, too, beating out both public charging options and gas prices on a cost-per-mile basis.

But home-charging satisfaction slipped slightly last year as that cost advantage grew slimmer. J.D. Power reports that rising electricity prices have put a damper on consumer enthusiasm for home charging setups. I can certainly relate, as San Diego has some of the highest electricity rates in the country, making my home-charging bill egregious.

  • The Toyota Crown Signia is an excellent hybrid, but not exactly a slam-dunk value.

  • We give you the latest on Ford’s “Skunkworks” Universal EV Platform.

  • Waymo has doubled its weekly ridership in under a year, as the autonomous ride-hailing company has come online in a growing number of U.S. cities.
