Gas prices have remained persistently high over the past couple of months due to the war in Iran. Hyundai and Kia have pounced on that opportunity to sell more EVs and economical hybrids.

Last month marked an all-time record for the sales of electrified Hyundais and Kias, including hybrids, plug-in hybrids, and EVs. Consumers wary of costly gas drove tremendous sales growth for models like the Hyundai Tucson and Santa Fe hybrids and their Kia siblings like the Sportage and Sorento.

Other stories on the deck today:

  • iPhone-maker Foxconn’s Cavira gets an LFP battery and a dual-motor powertrain that can deliver up to 468 horsepower.

  • The Rolls-Royce Spectre now goes farther, charges faster, and responds more sharply, but the design remains mostly untouched.

  • The cheapest used Cybertruck in Tesla’s inventory is less than $67,000. Is that enough to convince buyers, though?
