While you guys were enjoying your weekend, Mercedes-Benz pulled the covers off the new AMG GT SUV, one of its wildest electric cars to date.

Yes, it rides on the same AMG.EA platform as the recently revealed AMG GT sedan, but its specs are even more outrageous on paper. The GT 55 and GT 63 trims can charge at a staggering 710 kilowatts, which would make them the fastest-charging EVs from a non-Chinese automaker.

And that's just one of the ways Mercedes is trying to one-up the Porsche Cayenne Electric and the rest of the high-performance electric SUV crowd.
