Toyota has slow walked the electric vehicle transition. But over the years, it has absolutely aced hybrids. The new sixth-generation RAV4 is now a hybrid-only nameplate and it is comprehensively upgraded inside and out.

My jaw dropped when I observed 56 miles per gallon while driving the RAV4 in New York City. Even on open highways, I never saw the fuel economy drop below 40 mpg. But more than that, it’s just a better car overall.

Will that be enough for buyers to ditch their gas guzzlers and jump to hybrids or maybe even EVs? Check out my full review below to find out.
