The Rivian R2 might be stealing all the headlines this year, but the automaker hasn’t given up on its flagship R1 models. The 2027 R1S now gets optional captain’s chairs for the second row, which Rivian says was the most requested feature by its customers.

The R1S and R1T now also have a more streamlined trim-level nomenclature, similar to the R2, to keep things simple. The SUV and the truck will be now offered in Premium, Performance, and Quad trims.
