As part of our Breakthrough Awards testing, I recently got behind the wheel of a new Tesla Model Y for a few days. What stuck out to me most was—like every time I drive a Tesla—how handily this company dunks on everybody else when it comes to feature-packed, easy-to-use software.
Over the weekend, the company began rolling out its annual holiday software update. It’s packed with genuinely useful and well-thought-out features, like a better dash cam, live pet monitoring and 3D Supercharger maps.
This one software upgrade offers more awesome new functions than most car companies deploy over a vehicle’s entire lifetime. It shows that while Tesla’s sales may be struggling right now, it’s still the one to beat when it comes to overall user experience.
See what’s new in Iulian’s story below.
Here’s what else is going on in the EV world today:
Some guys doubled a Rivian R1T’s range by packing its bed full of extra batteries.
There’s a fire sale on Tesla Model Y Standard crossovers.
LG and Mercedes-Benz struck a big battery deal.
