We knew Volvo was working on a replacement for the EX30 and the EX40. The former gets phased out after model year 2026, and the latter has been a sales dud. Now that replacement will be called the EX50, Automotive News reported Monday.
It will ride on the same SPA3 platform as the EX60, so expect blistering charging speeds, more range, cutting-edge software and superior packaging. It’s expected to start at under $50,000 and compete with other entry-level premium crossovers like the Cadillac Optiq and Mercedes-Benz GLA EV.
