BMW has always made solid EVs, but with the iX starting at nearly $90,000, the company has long lacked a mainstream electric SUV. But with a $60,000 starting price and over 400 miles of range, the iX3 is aimed right at the heart of the luxury electric crossover market.

As Tim Levin reports, it looks to be on target. The iX3 has class-leading charging specs, excellent driving dynamics and an all-new software interface. It’s exactly what BMW needs to take its EVs to the next level.
